Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day Friends!

The ones that we've lost still go with us in spirit. In the faces of Family, their presence still lingers. In the dreams they once nurtured they still shape our future. In the hearts that embrace them, they live on forever. At daybreak and nightfall, as long as there's memory we will remember them.

Check back for more great ideas and enjoy all the timeless treasures of this Memorial Day; the warmth of home, the love of family and the company of good friends.

Challenge of an Asymmetrical Space by Joel Snayd

Hi Friends,

When dealing with the challenge of an asymmetrical space, look for ways to create symmetry and balance. Using two sofas as opposed to a loveseat helps create symmetry, and the two lamps flanking either side of the fireplace create balance and help define the space.

Your space, your home, make it your own and enjoy!

Check back for more ideas and keep in mind that your space is a reflection of you.

The Journey by Mary Oliver

Hi Friends,

Maria Shriver shared her favorite poem by Mary Oliver; thought you might enjoy!

The Journey by Mary Oliver

One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began, though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice-- though the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles. "Mend my life!" each voice cried. But you didn't stop. You knew what you had to do, though the wind pried with its stiff fingers at the very foundations, though their melancholy was terrible. It was already late enough, and a wild night, and the road full of fallen branches and stones. But little by little, as you left their voices behind, the stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds, and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, that kept you company as you strode deeper and deeper into the world, determined to do the only thing you could do-- determined to save the only life you could save.

Contemporary Guest Room by Shane Reilly

Hi Friends,

The woven tobacco-colored beds set the tone of this room--inviting, contemporary, unexpected--while colors of sand, blue and ivory evoke the beach. The all-mirror table between the beds disappears into its surroundings and makes an interesting backdrop for anything placed on it.

Check back for more ideas and enjoy your guest as they enjoy the experience of a luxury hotel atmosphere in your home.

Romantic Bedroom Designed by Lisa Stanley

Hi Friends,

Lisa Stanley designed the room to envelop the occupant in luxury and comfort, this room was designed around the headboard and blanket. The faux wall treatment looks like metallic birch bark, and the upholstered headboard is a shimmery mushroom and champagne color with leafless birch tree accents. A dramatic black and polished nickel chandelier echoes the wall sconces, and two walls of windows allow ambient light and an incredible view.

Although, our budgets will not allow for the same designer materials we can still accomplish luxury and comfort in a space. Print the picture and take a trip to your favorite box store or discount linen store. Experiment with material and colors to create your own personal luxury and comfort at a price that fits your budget.

Happy Decorating!
